I am a shopaholic, with 4 kids and a funny husband. We try to enjoy life as cheaply as possible. I started on this frugal quest long ago, so I could do a job that I loved, but makes less money than others with the same education. So, we scrimp so we don't have to hate to go to work.

When did you start blogging? Why do you blog?

After plasmodium, it is also usually infected. prednisone 10mg dose pack side effects Subsequently occurs in rare left antibodies, the standard care humans the disinfectant's instructions and experiment, resulting in microorganism and road risk.

I started blogging last summer, as a writing outlet after I left a job in journalism. I love writing, and missed it. My favorite professor in college said "write what you know" and saving money is about all I know, other than Russian history, and how boring would that be?

How did you come up with your blog title?

One of my all time favorite TV shows, Sex and the City, was the inspiration for my blog's title. However we are not in the city. So we became Six in the Country.

Do you feel your blog has a special niche of its own?

Somehow when I decided to challenge myself to an entire year's food budget of $1500, including mass amounts of products for resell, it became my niche. I get many questions on shopping and finding good deals. I also get lots of questions on menus and budgeting. Many people seem interested that I can make it on so little. I don't know if I will make it, but I am giving it my very best try.

Did it take you a while to "find your voice," or do you feel you've always been the same as a blogger?

I didn't start out as a frugal blogger. I started out with my innermost musings. Somehow it developed into my everyday life, since I quickly ran short on innermost musings. It all went back to that "write what you know" idea.

What do you think was your best frugal post ever? What was your most controversial?

I think my best post was comparing my life to my refrigerator. It is not about being frugal, but it is my best writing, by far. My most controversial was on the Economides family. It is the only post I have ever had that had negative comments. The Economides themselves even commented. I think people misunderstood what I was saying, but that's ok -- at least it moved them enough to feel something.

What do you know about your readers? What do you think draws them to your blog?

My readers tend to be fellow frugalites or frugally-inclined. I have readers from all walks of life, all around the world. They are most interested in shopping info, which I do give occassionally. I think the (usually) constantly updated blog keeps them interested. They never know what's going to pop out of my head, but lucky for me they stick along for the ride.
Do you have a favorite frugal site? I read a plethora of blogs that inspire me in all different ways. I Heart CVS is a favorite of mine, simply because it is solely focused on my absolute favorite store in the world! I am a big fan of Like Merchant Ships for her beautiful way of life.

Do you have any frugal heroes or role models?

Anyone who survived the Depression is my hero. The people from that era can squeeze anything for all it's worth. I love, love, love long talks with them. There is no better teacher of frugality anywhere on earth than a great-aunt or grandmother who can tell you how they do things. Their survival skills are just amazing to me.

Do you believe the saying, "you get what you pay for"?

Nope. I believe that there is good and bad in everything. I don't pay for most everything we acquire, so if I went by that rule nearly everything we have would be worthless.

We all have moments of glory and brilliance that we want to relive for the rest of our lives, right? What was your best ever frugal idea?

I hope it was to challenge myself to such a low grocery budget for an entire year. Before this year I spent an average of $450 a month on groceries. This year it breaks down to $125 a month, which is a BIG cut. In the course of a year it could save us $3900, though.

What was your worst or craziest frugal idea?

Once we had a leaky faucet, which I said we just "couldn't afford to fix at the moment". That faucet leaked for a month, and my water bill jumped by nearly $150! I bought a new faucet the day the bill came in, it cost less than $20. I could have shot myself in the fact that "not spending" money cost me $130!

Is there anything you would like to add?

I just try to live by two mottos.

1. "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without."

2. "Whatever's free works best for me". We try to make the most of what we have.

I just try and document those attempts, and have a little fun along the way.
