When you don't feel good, it's a challenge to keep up the frugal front.  My thrifty strategies usually put effort over expense. Do I even have a budget back-up plan?

It’s amazing how long it takes to get everyone ready to go out to eat, wait in line, wait to order, wait for the food, get everyone to eat, and then back home! We could’ve saved a lot of $ and TIME and effort by staying home. :) Or gotten frozen pizzas!

Gratitude (even for frozen pizza!) is one of those things I have to be continuously working on.
Just keep telling the kids that all these special treats (only the ones they’re happy about!) are thanks to their new little brother and then let the treats continue for a bit after he gets here. They’ll be plenty of time to get everybody back on track (you included!) once he’s settled in. This works for my kids anyway…Levi thinks me going to the hospital is the best thing ever because he gets to eat at the Cracker Barrell:)

I have a feeling you weren’t the only one encouraged. :)

Sometimes, the hardest person to extend grace to is ourselves. Especially when we don’t meet those “personal best”goals, of doing things the way we’d like for the cost we’d like. You’ve definitely got the antidote for that un-grace with gratitude.

It helps me to remember that stewardship best understood is wise allocation of not only our money, but time and energy as well. When any of those are in short supply, that’s where discernment comes in, and a different shortage will lead to a different “right” solution.

Lavish yourself with kindness and grace.

We call it budget wiggle room, and we don’t have much but sometimes I just have to have something (frozen pizza, even (gasp) takeout!)…

Can’t be too hard on ourselves for not ALWAYS rejoicing in our choices. It’s painful when I find conversations with the 8 year old on why the TV is off becoming arguments. Can’t really get it through his head that it’s $65 for TV or food…
